Maybe it's just because I'm re-reading the Harry Potter series for the third time but seeing an owl on Saturday was extra cause for excitement. I was over in Stratford at a computer fair, time to Pimp My PC, and just outside the station was a stand with three owls. They all came from a sanctuary called Little Haven and a couple of the founders were there to answer questions as well as raise money for the charity. You could pose next to the two bigger owls for your photograph, but if you were lucky you were allowed to hold the Little Owl.

I was lucky. It's just a shame that I didn't have a camera.

But the Little Owl was gorgeous, with great big yellow eyes looking at me as I was told to make a wish. I made a wish and then left a donation for these amazing birds. I nicknamed the owl Pig, after Ron Weasley's owl Pigwideon, because I imagine this is what Pig might look like:
